THE CONSUMER PRODUCT SAFETY IMPROVEMENT ACT

As you probably all know, on August 14, 2008 the landmark legislation, The Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 was signed into law. The new law expands the Consumer Product Safety Commission's (CPSC) role in ensuring the safety of consumer products, especially those designed for children under 12 years of age.
Rashti & Rashti intends to fully comply with all of the new requirements of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act. Some of the requirements that affect, or will affect, products we import are:
- A reduction in the levels of lead in paint used in children's products
- New requirements for total lead content in children's products
- Tracking labels for children's products
- Certification requirements for children's products
- Mandatory third-party testing for certain children's products
- New requirements to eliminate phthalates in children's products
- An adoption by CPSC of the industry standard for toys and children's products (ASTM F963)
As a leader in the design and manufacturing of newborn and infant products, the concern for safety is at the forefront of our corporate values. For over 60 years, Rashti and Rashti has maintained its commitment to produce merchandise that meets or exceeds both governmental and industry standards and continuously strives to improve and create safer products for the end user, the children.
Over the past months, we have been working diligently to understand and comply with the new requirements as efficiently and effectively as possible. We have partnered with certified laboratories approved by the CPSC and will have General Conformity Certification (GCC) filed electronically, accessible through our website with a log-in and password provided to our retail customers starting February 10th, 2009.
It is our sincerest hope that our dedication to safety, quality and customer service will instill continued confidence in our company and products.
